NC HPNA Board of Directors Elections
Posted about 1 year ago by Allie Lindahl
Hello all! It is hard to believe that our term as NC HPNA Board members is winding down! Elections for 2024-2025 board members are coming up next month.
All active members will receive a digital ballot in December to vote for our next Board. If you are not sure if you are an active member, you should see a NC HPNA header on our Nursing Network site. In the bottom left of that header, when you are signed in, will say "Member", "Expiring Member", or "Join Here". If yours says "Join Here", you are not a member yet! Membership is only $25 for 2 years, and Students are Free! Not only does membership give you the chance to vote, you can also serve on the Board of Directors, and our hope is to offer more member benefits as our chapter grows!
If you are interested in a Board of Directors position, please contact our current president, Jamie Day, at jday1977@gmail.com by Friday December 1! Please include what role(s) you are interested in, and a quick bio to send out to members. Current board members are willing to remain on, and to support new board members as needed, however we hope to grow our active membership with new board members!
Here are the descriptions of our current positions from the By-Laws, with our comments in bold!
President: The President shall preside at all meetings of the Board and the Executive Committee or appoint designee in his/her absence. The President shall have general and active management of the business of the Board and shall see that all orders and resolutions of the Board are carried into effect. The President shall execute contracts and other instruments requiring the signature of the Board. The President shall give, or cause to be given, notice of all meetings of the Board. The President coordinates with other board members to plan meetings, find outreach opportunities, and is our guiding voice.
President-Elect: The President-Elect shall, in the absence of the President, perform the duties and exercise the powers of the President and shall perform such other duties as the Board may prescribe. The President-Elect supports the board in meeting planning and outreach.
Secretary-Treasurer: The Secretary-Treasurer will ensure proper business is recorded and will provide oversight to review and ensure proper maintaining and reporting related to funds and financial reports per policies. We currently split this role, with the Secretary responsible for taking and posting meeting minutes, website maintenance, and social media posting. The Treasurer is responsible for the chapter bank account (with oversight from the President), maintaining annual and mid-year reports, and coordination with national office as needed.
